Con la presentación de los números 16 y 17, publicados durante el año 2006, en los que se incluyen un ensayo del célebre lingüista norteamericano Noam Chomsky y una entrevista con el filósofo español Fernando Savater la revista Caudal celebró su quinto aniversario con un acto en el forum Pedro Mir de la Librería Cuesta
Con cinco años de publicación ininterrumpida, la revista de arte, letras y pensamiento, dirigida por el escritor y profesor universitario Carlos Enrique Cabrera, ha integrado a sus páginas la ilustración de destacados artistas dominicanos y extranjeros, con lo que se convierte en una publicación que, aparte de su importante contenido, registra la gráfica contemporánea .

Los números 17 y 18 fueron ilustrados (por completo) por los pintores José Pelletier y Ángel Urrely, respectivamente. Asimismo en sus páginas se han incorporado fotos e ilustraciones, rigurosamente inéditas, de Marcelo Ferder, Kilia Llano, José Pelletier, Gerard Ellis Ruiz, Marcial Báez, Yuly Monción, Cecilia Casamajor, Mario Dávalos, Alí González Alemany, Maritza Álvarez, Miguel Gómez y Polibio Díaz.
La revista Caudal tiene como objetivos promover y difundir las letras (novela, cuento, poesía, ensayo…), las artes (música, cine, danza, pintura, escultura, arquitectura, urbanismo...) y, de manera muy especial, el pensamiento crítico (ensayos y reflexiones sobre temas ecológicos, filosóficos, pedagógicos, económicos, sociales y políticos, etcétera).
